whore for comments
no, i didn’t delete your comments. my host decided to migrate over to another server, and restored a backup of my site on it. this would normally be fine, but having made two blog posts since and had a slightly more-than-usual number of comments on some recent posts, i’ve now lost them and it’s pretty painful realising this. strangely, i’m not so much upset over my lost posts as i am over my lost comments from you guys. so… point is, i didn’t delete them and sorry they aren’t there anymore.
i’ve asked the server admin to restore them. fingers crossed.

Aiyaaaah! That’s gotta suck… That’s the problem with stoopid webhosts… They should have, at the very least, let you know about it so that you can back your stuff up eh!
Change Change Change =P Unless of coz, they are like uber cheap lah!
Hope you get your comments back…
great! you’re back. losing your comments meant i lost the link to your site, too.
(and my host is uber uber uber cheap. heh. so i have no bargaining power, i think.)
yeah i definately was like. WOW. what a hater.
it’s ok
i love you again
:)
Aww…I feel so honoured =P Hehe…
Hey! I just realised! You took the pics for gab’s wedding ah! NICE! Missed his antics at wala man…
as a fellow commentwhore, i can feel your pain.
but isn’t there any way you can ask them to give you access to the old sql server â€â€? if they’ve already deleted it, fire them â€â€? and then you can backup that which existed there but not in the new one, and restore it on the new server?
erm, textdrive is a lovely environment for geeks. =) got a lifetime hosting plan there. i hear A2 isn’t bad too.
Host with my company lar… :P (Shameless advert)
Hee.. Just kidding… Anyway, had a similar experience with a budget host previously… Didn’t loose comments… Lost email instead… They suddenly moved the server, claimed to do free upgrade etc… Then just delete the emails that came in during transition… Asked them to restore they said deleted… Very unprofessional… Wah! So furious that we fired them… Sigh…
