Space, Time and Aeroplanes

In spite of repeating my flight details for my work trip over and over in my head last week, I still managed to narrowly screw up my schedule, only realising yesterday that I had in fact bungled up the dates in my head, missing by a day, and then needing to make frantic phone calls to the travel agent for a change of flight.

I’m flying to Brisbane tonight for a media trip thing organised by Systimax. To be frank, I’m not quite sure what it’s going to be all about, but I guess that’s what the trip’s for—to educate—right? I’ll be bringing along the little 8.1 megapixel that Sony so kindly lent me for my contribution to their magazine. My article on Street Photography will come out in February, I’m told, so I’ll get the corresponding weblink for that when I know. The camera does rather nice video too, so I’m expecting to put some multimedia (*jiggles hands about because I’m using a retro tech buzzy term*) up on this blog if I’m not consumed by the backlog of work that I brought along in optimistic hopes of pulling an all-nighter on the plane with.

Who am I kidding, though? I’m going on Singapore Airlines, so I’ll be well entertained. *Patriotic music plays in the background* Then again, even if the inflight entertainment fails, I’m bringing my PSP along, so… Work? I think, pro-ho-ho-bably not.

Transiting and transitions: the two words that have unfadingly characterised the past weeks of events. From changes in relationships to the need for re-evaluation of others, it’s never fun, let’s not kid ourselves. I want so badly to sit here and foolhardily proclaim words like “forever” and “everlasting” and “eternal”, but I think I’m only going to reserve those for Sundays. But I secretly believe in the longevity of some of my friendships; I perhaps just don’t say it often enough.

Jody, I know you’re going through some stuff now. Throwing words like “I’m here for you” and “I’m just a phonecall away” is irksome, and tired at best. But you know I am.

Re-evaluation of other things will be facilitated by the distance of Singapore and Brisbane, as well. Thank God for space, time and aeroplanes.

Thank you… you being there means the world to me. Although you aren’t on MSN right now and it’s bugging me. Boo Brisbane.

Taking a plane is cool. Going to another place, country, culture is cool. Always refreshes me spiritually.
