Found this on Lawrence’s blog, of Computerworld Philippines, from the recent vendor Brisbane trip. Too bad I look confused, but you’d be disoriented too if you were me.

Some Windows Tweaks

SCORE. It may seem like a relatively small triumph, but being an ardent fan of WordPad (I can almost see the alternative recommendations in the comments to come; trust me, I’ve tried every single Notepad replacement online, and I’m not a fan of Word very much. It’s too helpful.) and somewhat anal, my only niggle with it was that it’s a pain in the arse to change the default font each time I start a new file.

However. PCWorld’s helpful little article (scroll to “Start WordPad the Way You Want) really helped. Now it works like a charm. The solution’s actually really simple, but sometimes the answer’s in the most obvious place, I guess.

Also, for those who lurve (sic) the way Macs display fonts in that cuddly, snuggly, oh-so-friendly soft way but use Windows with an LCD screen, I stumbled upon ClearType Tuner (released by Microsoft—surprisingly simple and clean, though) which makes stuff a lot more readable. Almost in that cuddly, snuggly way, too. Download it.
