Coming from Singapore, I’m pretty good at dealing with heat. I can walk up and down Orchard Road in our sun all day, no problem. But five minutes from my hotel to a barely-ventilated tented shopping cluster and I’m floored. Much like people who have been found after wandering around a desert, I stumbled into the hotel on my return from shopping, only to imagine seeing a mirage of glasses of cool water waiting to be drunk. Turns out, they were vase ornaments in the lobby.
Notice how the aforementioned blistering heat still didn’t prevent me from shopping. It didn’t do me any favours on the bargaining power though, as I was half-defeated already to keep up the mental math it took to start the bargaining at each shop at 60%.
Just returned from a really exciting interview with Hu Yoshida—exciting because I’m a not-so-secret fan of his blog, and couldn’t resist telling him so at the end. Couldn’t resist gushing, rather. I hate myself.
A couple more days in Ho Chi Minh and I’ll be full and thoroughly roasted by the time I return home on Saturday. But it’ll be worth it. Lots more to see, and I’ve barely begun taking pictures yet. So far it’s been conference, conference, conference, which is interesting, but between enterprise storage technology and a stinky war tunnel, I’m going to go with the tunnel. (Which I will be, on Friday, I hope.)

Have you eaten at Thai Express? There’s this Kang Kong dish called Tua Phat Phrick. I kid you not.
[...] jaywalk with the locals, too!” On a nice note, Hu Yoshida mentioned me in his blog. Unsurprisingly, I’m thrilled.
