Taiwan Day 1
(From an hour ago…)
Sitting in the lobby of a relatively crummy hotel in Taiwan at 10 at night is not my idea of fun after a harried plane ride next to what might be possibly the fidgetiest man alive. I’m here because somewhere along the communication lines, someone messed up my booking. So my family, who arrived yesterday, are all in what I expect is a much nicer hotel, while I somehow get checked in and sent here.
No matter; just another half hour till I get picked up to the next one. Just a dose of my typical luck—just as well I’m getting it over with at the start of the trip.
I should have known , because the first thing I saw upon stepping in here was a fish upside down in the lobby tank. And you know how I feel about fish and about death. (More so about fish—incarnations of pure evil, those things.)
Free ADSL in the new hotel room! All is very, very good now. Amazing what a salve free broadband is. I’m so happy, it’s the only thing keeping me from worrying about some farm stay I just heard about; apparently, tomorrow we have to check out and be at some farm for a night.
My only concern with that is the level of cleanliness and the very possible lack of Internet connection, free or otherwise. And in that order, so you know I’ve got my priorities right.
