I remember last Christmas. Vaguely. I don’t know why this is; I have a feeling I had a good time, but since I typically block out bad or dull memories, I wonder if I had a lousy time, or just yawned a lot.

But this Christmas is very different. This might be the first in a while that I have almost nothing to worry about and am not caught halfway between two opposing lanes with my pants down—a typical combination-problem I always seem to run into.

But in the name of combinations, I think somehow everything’s coming together quite nicely. And I say this without my usual fear of jinxing it, even.

To my friends I haven’t seen in a while who live here, I hope I get to see you soon. I probably don’t have half your numbers anymore after losing my phones so many times, but you’ll be surprised; I think about you. (Those from MGS, ACJC and NUS, especially, as well as a number of embarrassing things I’ve been in, like a singing group and several bands.)

Those whose numbers I do have, I hope to see you in the coming week when we’re all off work.

To my best friends who don’t live here right now (but who will be coming back soon enough, I hope)—Jody, Jun, thank you for being all of that to me. I love you.

To a most unexpected surprise, thank you for being the most awesome gift I’ve ever received. (Next to Teddy Ruxpin, of course, who was sitting on my doorstep when I was five. It’s okay, he’s tough competition.)
