Chikkin Powder

Holy Soylent Green, Batman! Looking fairly innocuous (and wholesome, almost), the Petit Brunch “chicken taste” biscuits I hastily crammed into my mouth earlier in a hunger fit have retained their sharp, chickenny smell on exit.

I don’t mean I’m pooping chicken cubes, which would be far less disturbing, come to think of it; what I mean is, the scent seems to have been preserved all through my digestive efforts in my pee.

Yes, it did worry me somewhat when I realised my fingers still smelt of faux chicken, after going through several washes, a bath, moisturising my face, sweating on my PSP and more washing.

So I really ought not be surprised the smell is intact in my pee.

On closer examination, the box cryptically lists as one of its ingredients: “chicken powder”. I don’t know what this is. I can’t even imagine what it might be, save for detonating an egg farm, or freezing whole birds and putting them through a blender.

…Hmm.

Chicken powder is actually a flavouring that’s quite commonly used in Chinese cooking. I have my doubts as to whether it seriously contains any chicken in it, but its I suppose essence of chicken flavour in powdered form.

And thanks for making me think about your pee.

My god woman. You really don’t cook do you? Chicken powder. Like knorr chicken powder? Or the bouillon cubes? U know what’s weird is that a lot of mexicans use chicken powder too. This I did not know until moving to LA

What are chicken cubes? Isn’t that just chicken powder packed into a cube? Hahahaha. Chicken bouillon cubes are a bit different from chicken powder-the flavouring though. But similar lah.

erm.. so is chicken powder actualli chicken? or just flavourings?
    is it suitable for vegaterians?

  10. victoriaMarch 17, 2008 @ 2:11 am

nicola> it’s pretty suitable for vegetarians, because it’s just flavouring with no discernable chicken in it.:)
