Photo Woes: Yet Another Interviewee

An e-mail exchange with an IT manager on whom I’m writing an article:

me: Thanks for the answers. Could I get a high-res shot of you to accompany the writeup?
him: Do you mean a photo?

Yes, it is fairly ironic that he is in IT. More ironic is the teeny-tiny 64kb picture I received, shortly after. Even more ironic is its unusable PDF format.

Yes, I know. I feel like I work with people like that too, sometimes.

Speechless…. absolutely speechless. Don’t we just feel good about ourselves?

Lol, I’ve heard a few IT manager stories like this from my wife. But this is a classic example. :)

Its very common among IT Managers.
They manage the IT staff, not IT stuff.

I’m also in IT line too. My manager recently asked me what is a blog. I don’t know how to explain to him without making him look dumb.

DK> That makes sense, though I wouldn’t expect that from anyone remotely acquainted with tech. He doesn’t have to be a tech whiz but really…Wow. (Then again, I get the point about him being a people manager and little else…)
