My Kingdom for a Gold Casio
Being online in the middle of the day with a project deadline looming makes mindless surfing a suddenly very delicious activity. Shopping online for geeky gadgets is just the icing on the cake, and compulsive ctrl-tabbing makes for very easy time passing. Which isn’t necessarily a great idea with the deadline and all, but while I’m at it, I realise I have excellent taste in watches.
I know you’re not going to disagree.
A year or so ago, I decided, whilst geek-shopping, that it would be awesomely cool to have a binary watch, because it’d be like nothing I currently own, out of a collection of way-too-adult watches (read: conventional). Moreover, they tell time with pretty LED lights. Need I say more?
The timepieces:
- A black bling bling leather-strapped binary watch. They might prove slight difficult to read, though, because they require some mental math. And I can’t do math—mental or otherwise. Here’s a white one, too.
- A long one, and much easier to read. A bit more trekkie, though. I’m not sure I can carry it off.
- Pretty, round and plain. Much more conventional, much less outlandish, much more difficult to read.
- A total classic. I think I might have had the plastic version some 15 or so years ago. But now, it’s goooooooooold! (via mrbrown)
Edit: I don’t know how I missed it, but there are more gold Casios at TheOldTech.com, and it’s Singaporean, so shipping is cheapie cheap cheap, if not free.
Further edit: I’ve got one! I was walking through the electronics aisle in a Chinatown mall, and one of them had the lot to choose from. Very happy am I. :) :)

may the heavens smite you down for your taste in watches. anyway jt if you’re reading this I TRIED TO FIND SOME WAY TO CONTACT YOU TO BEG YOU TO MAKE IT STOP. only you know how, and i defer to your wisdom.
i have failed. may the powers that be have pity.
Amen.
Hmm…I saw the binary ones on Thinkgeek.com and thought they were cool. Pity I’m not one for watches at the moment. However the circular LED one like your 3rd choice is new to me and while less geeky (and less of a headache) still really cool. Thanks for pointing it out! crap that I have something else to add to the wishlist.
I remember that old-skool Casio. Had one too, those “forward” and “reverse” button were soo cutting edge back then :)
in case you didn’t know, it’s old-skool casio land at mustafa. i even found the watch i wore in primary one. full of gold bling bling goodness. and only 15 bucks!
Argh! Now you tell me…Haha. Okay, still worth checking out. Thank you! :)
