Love to LA

As expected, my week-long visit to LA was over in a wink—but not without each day being made full use of, in my opinion. To be honest, my two friends hosting me, Jody and Jun, were visibly worn out by the end of it; and in spite of consistently suggesting I extend my stay, pleas of the sort started to slow down in frequency and enthusiasm towards the end. It probably also didn’t help that both mornings they had to pick me up and send me off succeeded a night of partying. Thanks for being punctual too, you guys, I love you and miss you already.

Speaking of love, it’s hard not to feel it when you glance at the walls in Jody’s apartment. While she’s moved several times within the country since she got there 5 years ago, photos of the three of us from back home are tacked, framed, magnet-stuck and clipped all over. Best feeling, ever. (Although I am rather miffed that I look so awful in each shot, ranging from Sweaty, Goofy, Flat-haired, Sleepy, and other lesser-known dwarves.)

Nothing much has changed with us, which is of great comfort to me. There are one or two things though, like techno-phobe Jody addicted to her BlackBerry and Facebook. Jun however, is…Jun. Always. :)

Jody kept asking me what I thought of my time in LA. Funny thing is, it practically felt like I was hanging out with them at home, because we ate, walked around, shopped and did pretty much the same things we do in Singapore. But oh boy was it good. Exactly what I need before I start work at the new place next week, which I’m excited about. (Though check back on Sunday night for deflated enthusiasm, when I attempt to sleep early to get to work the next day, reminiscent of school nights past.)

Transiting in Narita, I’m fighting to stay awake to beat jetlag. But going by the odd hours I was keeping in LA, I might have been on home time the entire duration, after all. I’ll find out when I’m home.
