The Dearth of Posts Lately

I laughed when my ex-editor once said he couldn’t keep a blog because it was “too much like work”. After all, I was working and still updating regularly, so it was just a matter of compartmentalising, right?

Not really. Now that I’m no longer writing for a fortnightly publication, where tomorrow, tomorrow, my deadline’s a day away, pushing stuff off to the next day or even the week after is not quite an option any longer. (And don’t get me started on how it used to be working for a monthly…)

Writing for online means that amidst a schedule in essence sped up by a factor of 14 for the instant gratification of click publishing, this blog now belongs to a life that has degenerated into a cesspool of nothingness outside of work.

Put plainly–while this casts a shadow on previous jobs–about 95% of my Internet traffic is work-related now.

Holy smokes, this is what having a real job must feel like.

yeah, i can sympathize. we’re supposed to become “Webcentric” but i work for a bunch of old-school print boys. and we still have print-products that bring in revenue. so we’ll see what happens when i start officially blogging, likely this month. i mean WORK-blogging.

i could go on about this (and probably will in a future editorial). do i spend ALL my time in front of this computer? why? at this point, living in HK where the pollution today is dizzguztin, and it’s crowded and hot anyway, it’s not like i wanna wander down to the beach with a good book. but, what about the future? i blog corp, i blog personal, i do events/wrangle freelancers/other job stuff, oh yeah and i got a print mag to write/edit/proof as well. so what do i do in “meatspace,” ya know? i’m actually planning to join a gym soon so there’s goes…ALL my time. i mean really. if i had houseplants they wd die of boredom and loneliness.

i enjoy my life most of the time but this blog-encroachment is worrisome. however, YOUR comments on my blog are always a treat, thx.! :^)
