Christmas is nigh and the shops are a buzzin’. No feeling of the reported economic slowdown because Orchard Road is a bloody madhouse. My office is in one of the buildings along the stretch and there is nothing more charming than jostling for carpark space while you’re already late for work.
But maybe people are spending less. The crowds are just shoppers flitting about looking harder for bargains, as opposed to buying what they need and getting the hell out.
No economic slowdown’s going to prevent the all-important gift exchanging. I mean, what else are we going to do to pass the time during Christmas parties?
Which leads me to wonder—do people whose birthdays fall on or near Christmas get extra large presents or 2-in-1s that disappoint both occasions?
And does Christmas feel like Christmas because of time off work? Or tinsel in the trees downtown? Or the looping Christmas soundtrack in the office toilet?
Wow, how is Charice Pempengco 16 already?! Especially given that when I blogged about her two years ago she was 12. Here she is on an Oprah special, getting her dream to sing with Celine Dion. Part 1 and Part 2. (via cowboycaleb)
